The sages of the “guards of the word” say that the press is “a weapon who has no weapon” and that “the pen is spent from the sword”, because of the word of strength and influence on the permanence of creativity and human interaction, due to the belief of its guards that the free word should not go in vain, otherwise it will be absent without regret the awareness of the peoples and their consciences.
And the press, as one of these wise describes it, is a “history at the moment of its formation.” It cannot be installed as a fourth authority for society, as the professionals boast, unless you adopt an independent line of opinion and position, to gain the characteristic of representation of “the other opinion”, and to preserve its position as a basic source of history and witness to it.
And the press for me, or to convey the hobby of journalistic writing, did not occur to me except on that glory summer day of August 2000, when Bahrain shook the Hall of Gulf Air incident coming from Cairo. At the time, I was at the crossroads of my career, after I left my job in one of the major national companies.
Perhaps the sadness of the lost spirits, and the desire to join, even with the weakest faith, to efforts to contain the consequences of that catastrophe and its human pain, is what led me to search for an outlet that absorbs what the heart and minds of the hearts, interacting with an incident that we have not seen before.
With the passage of time, the journalistic writing began to attract me to its yard, and the newspaper “Al -Ayyam” was the first field of young experience, which was observed by complimenting the father and encouraging him to try the dreaming daughter to follow the footsteps of his pen famous for his broad “resonance” in influencing, and the causing, too, in “rusting” heads who disagreed with them or opposed them in the situation.
It is not easy to be left like this alone, the waves of the raging press are elaborated with their professionals and the superiority of their experienced people. Therefore, my stay in the rehab of Her Majesty did not appear, so I moved to a new work process, which was not free of writing, although it was in different formulas, but it has all the credit for ripening and refining the pen and keeping it in connection with the “paradise of thorns”.
Because the press has its own charm, due to the conditions of upbringing, the essay school, Latha Hussein, the journalist, the author of the book and the column of “Paradise of Thorns” in the Egyptian newspapers, brilliantly with its literary stimulation and reformist tendency, especially his conviction as a civilized art with a direct social function to lead thought and formation.
And because the arts of writing journalistic vary and develop with its “smart” interaction with its fans, and it is not possible to suffice with one color of its colors or a single reference from its references, the pen is still training and the mood of the profession and its secrets is considered. And I find me grateful to the newspaper “Al -Watan” to host it for us on this weekly space, which we consider a new station to fabricate the experience and its development.
And if I have a blame on the press, then my place lies in the absence of those who adopt the newborn pen or give him advice to God! I may be in this place, and I am exaggerating in my opinion that the amateur needs a professional that guides him to exceed the roughness of the road. I don’t know!
But what I know is certain is that the press, as a profession and as an entity responsible for protecting the word, remains what the word remains. It is necessary to secure the fresh flow of the rivers of the press, its arts and origins, and build on its most beautiful experiences.
To secure the continuity of that flow, what if we studied the idea of establishing a special academy for the press in Bahrain, which is inspired by its orientation from its golden era at the hands of its great pioneers, who declared the voice of mediation, and their performance did not say about their counterparts in the Arab world? Let’s learn from the richness and diversity of their press biography:
How do they maintain the freedom of the text despite the absence of a law stick?
How did they transform the press into an industry to produce thought and revitalize opinion?
How did they avoid converting it into a micro -trade or a source of excitement?
How did they settle on the journalistic base, the first station for any renewal and patriotic enlightenment?
I leave the idea at the “Word Guard” stadium .. and every year and the press is a platform for enlightenment.
