Under the generous patronage of His Highness Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, Chairman of the General Sports Authority and Chairman of the Bahrain Olympic Committee, the third edition of the His Highness Championship for Bowling, which was held over 11 days in the “Land of Fun” center, was held this evening, organized by the Bahraini Bowling Federation, amid wide participation and strong competition between more than 120 players and players representing 14 countries.
The closing ceremony witnessed the presence of His Excellency Dr. Abdel Rahman Sadiq Askar, CEO of the General Authority for Sports, Mr. Saleh Al -Boufallah, President of the Bahrain Bowling Federation, along with members of the Federation’s Board of Directors, heads of participating delegations, representatives of sponsoring companies and media.
In turn, His Excellency Dr. Abdul Rahman Sadiq Askar expressed his great thanks and gratitude to His Highness Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa for the care and attention given to the sports sector in the Kingdom, explaining that His Highness is keen to provide support to all federations that work to organize distinguished championships that contribute to raising the name of Bahrain and enhancing the Kingdom’s position on the sports scene regionally and globally.
Askar pointed out that the organization of the third edition of the championship of His Highness Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad Bowling came as a culmination of the efforts of the Bahraini Federation of the game in the context of the efforts of its board of directors to spread this sport, indicating that the large participation volume that exceeded 120 players from 14 countries, represents a translation of hard work and the real desire to develop polynga in the Kingdom, praising the good organization of the championship that is commensurate with the reputation and status of Bahraini sport.
For his part, Mr. Saleh Al -Boufallah expressed his great appreciation and gratitude for the generous care that the championship received by His Highness Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, stressing that this sponsorship formed a pivotal element in the success of the event at all levels, whether in terms of professional organization, or extensive international participation, as well as the adoption of the championship from the Asian and international federations.
Al -Boufallah stressed that this sponsorship reflects the great support and constant interest from His Highness to enhance the sports movement in the Kingdom of Bahrain, and to achieve a qualitative development that contributes to the advancement of Bahraini sport regionally and internationally. He also explained that His Highness’s permanent support is a strong motivation for athletes to continue excellence and achieve more achievements, and embodies His Highness’s keenness to consolidate the Kingdom’s position on the global sports map.
Al -Boufalah added that the most prominent characteristic of the current version of the tournament is the wide international presence, noting that the good reputation that the tournament has become, in addition to its continental and international approval, and the valuable prizes presented, all of which contributed to attracting a large number of participants. He also referred to the great efforts made by the Bahrain Federation of Poing and the Organizing Committee in providing the best competitive and organizational atmosphere.
On the other hand, the final result resulted in the coronation of Emirati player Nayef Aqab with the title of the third “Khaled bin Hamad” championship for Poing, and he managed to win the title after winning in the final match against the Kuwaiti player Mustafa Al -Mousawi, with a score of 482 compared to 382 points. While the third place came from the Qatari share of Jassem Al -Markhi, who in turn overcame our national team player Rashid Al -Dalhan, with a score of 203, against 148 points, which came fourth in the ranking scale, and the closing day included a bright half of the “Gold Generation” category from the juniors of the Bahrain Bowling School, amid a large public presence.
