Dr. Mustafa Madbouly, the Egyptian Prime Minister, revealed the reason for the adulterated gasoline crisis in the country in early May.
Madbouly said during a press conference, today, Wednesday, that one of the companies and a refining lab is responsible for that shipment that causes the crisis, stressing that President Abdel Fattah El -Sisi directed to take legal measures against those concerned in this problem, and to sign financial fines on the two entities.
He continued that the crisis was limited to a specific shipment belonging to a refining company, and the shipment had a sulfur rate higher than supposed.
It is noteworthy that the Egyptian Ministry of Petroleum had previously decided to pay financial compensation to car owners affected by the crisis.
The ministry said that a similar amount will be disbursed to the value of the bill approved to replace the gasoline pump and a maximum of 2000 Egyptian pounds for complaints.
According to the ministry, the compensation exchange controls included that the complaint be submitted during the period from 4 to 10 this May, provided that the complaint is regarding the same period, while submitting documents stating that the complainant ownership of the car, and submitting an approved bill stating that the car pump was replaced.

The Ministry of Petroleum denied the reports regarding the quality of gasoline, confirming that all petroleum products, including gasoline, are subject to accurate control and periodic checks during the production and distribution stages to ensure their conformity with the Egyptian standard specifications.
The ministry said in a statement issued after the crisis, that the results of the analysis of samples withdrawn from gasoline, whether from fuel stations, warehouses, or refining companies, have proven their full conformity with the approved specifications.
She pointed out that the neutral inspectors from accredited international bodies conduct these tests regularly.
