After Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirmed today, Sunday, that it was continuing the Hamas movement in the Gaza Strip, the Israeli army issued a new order.
The Israeli army has ordered its reserve forces to expand operations in the Palestinian sector, while the Israeli raids on Gaza have continued since the resumption of the war on March 18.
The Chief of General Staff, Major General Eyal Zamir, confirmed the summons of “tens of thousands of reserves to intensify and expand the operation in Gaza and increase pressure with the aim of returning the hostages and defeating Hamas.”
He also said, “We will move in other regions and destroy all the Hamas infrastructure, whether on or below the ground.”
The Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, stressed earlier today that military pressure alone is beneficial, and leads to the launch of the prisoners after the defeat of Hamas.
He also stressed that “his goal was and still is the launch of prisoners and the elimination of Hamas.”
It is noteworthy that Hamas refused, on April 17, an Israeli proposal that includes a 45 -day truce in exchange for the release of 10 alive Israeli detainees. She demanded a comprehensive agreement to stop the war and the Israeli withdrawal from Gaza, in exchange for the launch of all its detainees.
On the other hand, Israel clung to the return of all prisoners and the disarmament of Hamas and other Palestinian factions, in exchange for the truce and not completely ending the war or complete withdrawal.
Israel resumed its attack on Gaza on March 18, after a ceasefire agreement concluded in January 2025, confirming that it will continue to pressure Hamas until the rest of the hostages were released in the Strip. And 58 prisoners are still detained in Gaza, 34 of whom were killed, according to the estimates of the Israeli army.
