The Iraqi security forces carried out a qualitative operation in the Al -Karrada area in the center of the capital, Baghdad, which resulted in the arrest of a man and a woman involved in smuggling and selling rare artifacts, among which was a copy of the Great Shams Al -Maaref Book, known for his association with black magic, and the finding of this book sparked widespread controversy in popular circles and social media platforms.

According to local media, the security authorities reported that this operation came after accurate investigations, which led to a tight ambush that resulted in the arrest of the defendants while trying to smuggle artifacts dating back to various historical periods, including a small metal statue, a colored pottery jar, and rare artifacts.

A copy of the Great Shams Al -Maaref Book, which is one of the most dangerous books related to magic and sorcery, was also found, and it is attributed to Ahmed bin Ali Al -Bouni, who died in 622 AH, the book contains hundreds of pages of talismans and spells, and it is believed that it is used to evoke the jinn and the works of black magic, and the first part of it was printed in Beirut in 1985, despite its ban in a number of Islamic countries because of its serious content.
The authorities confirmed that the legal measures were taken against the accused, and they were deposited in the arrest in preparation for referring them to the judiciary on charges related to smuggling antiquities and illegal dealing with historical property.
