The European Political Society Summit in Albania witnessed a strange fact, which brought together Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron.
The cameras showed the embarrassing situation, which Macron was subjected to, after shaking hands with Erdogan, as the latter baptized the finger of the French president for a long time.
Two translators were translating the conversation of the two presidents, while Erdogan was holding firmly with Macron’s finger, before he finally left him after 12 seconds.
The incident sparked widespread interaction and a lot of controversy on social media, especially since Macron tried to escape his finger in vain.
Some commentators considered that what happened showed “symbolic dominance” from Erdogan over his French counterpart, while others accused Macron of failing to manage sensitive diplomatic positions.
One of the commentators said: “Erdogan confirmed his dominance on Macron with an unexpected fingers.”
“Macron tried to be smart with Erdogan: he found himself insulting.”
He added: “Erdogan did what Trump did by not leaving his finger: Macron finds himself as a young child in front of the cameras! Macron is a disaster!”
There has been no official comment from both sides about the incident yet.
