Violent floods that swept areas in central Nigeria resulted in the death of 25 people, while more than 10 others are still missing, according to local media today (Thursday).
Reports stated that the torrential torrents destroyed more than 50 homes, after the water was suddenly flooded, causing it completely collapsed while many of the population were inside.
Rescue and relief teams are still continuing their efforts to search for survivors and recover bodies from under the rubble.
Meteorologists explained these extremist air phenomena that the effects of the “Nino” phenomenon, which led to an increase in seasonal rains in large parts of the African continent, including Nigeria, where flood accidents have been repeated in recent years.
Nigeria is annually witnessing a rainy season that runs from April to October, often causes humanitarian disasters, especially in areas with impaired infrastructure and a lack of water drainage systems.
