The Yemeni Minister of Information, Muammar Al -Iryani, announced today, Tuesday, the killing of a number of the leaders of the Houthi militia responsible for carrying out marine attacks and arms smuggling from Iran, following American air strikes targeting the group’s positions in Yemen.
Al -Iryani confirmed in a statement to Al -Arabiya English that these military operations have greatly weakened the military capabilities of the Houthis, noting that the American strikes led to a decline in the pace of terrorist attacks targeting international navigation in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden.
Al -Iryani explained that the strikes targeted an infrastructure linked to ballistic missiles and drones, which the militia uses to threaten maritime security.
He pointed out that Iran continues to support the Houthis with weapons and experts, calling on the international community to tighten control over arms smuggling operations to cut off supplies from the group.
The United States has intensified its military operations against the Houthis since last March, as it carried out more than 200 strikes, killing many militia members, including field leaders and military experts.
