Iran has never tested, in the history of the contemporary state of mullahs, a violent offensive plan such as those that targeted, and still targets the arms of its expansion project in the Arab region with the aim of undermining its regional spread. It is a plan, in our belief, parallel to the influence of the Iraq -Iran war in the 1980s, with its earthquake on the Persian self.
And for those who understand Iran well – or even for those who do not understand it at all – will find themselves in front of a dead end in trying to know what it thinks or what it is planning, in light of the collapse of the foundations on which the ambition of the Persian expansion is based, which ended its historical validity, by the way, since the broken ages.
Iran, for its part, has never shown flexibility or clarity in its foreign policies, which are characterized by strictness, intervention and expansion in an effort to achieve its goals. It is, as its critics describe it, a “saw in the saw” that is difficult to dismantle, and a major party in producing postponed problems that threaten regional security and stability without end.
But I wonder, can you dream of the region a day that differs from all the foregoing times and contemporary years, during which you did not know calm and stability except as rare? A day without racist hatreds on which time and political, cultural and religious conflicts are obsolete, which leads us to a series of other questions:
* Can Iran get rid of that sclerosis that brought it to the broken brokenness, to surprise the world by replacing its external positions? Especially after she tried to plant the seeds of her revolutionary project, wherever she went, and she saw with her eye how he perished his plow and his descendants.
* Will Iran suddenly surprise us with a sincere desire and tangible action with the aim of integrating into the region after a long interruption that dried the sources of the coalition and the Arab -Iranian rapprochement? A rapprochement based on flexibility in diplomacy and expanding the ground of understandings with legitimate political entities, and not with the crowds of rebellion for the sake of rebellion, in order to end the position of attrition and instability that lasted for four decades.
* Will “Iran today” go beyond the delusions of “Iran yesterday” to abandon the slogans of excellence that feed the harshest forms of populism, and claims to implement God’s will on the ground? Will you stop recycling of outdated speeches to put out the burning hostility against “the greatest devil and its smaller demons”?
* Will Iran one day be able to recover its courage as an ancient Persian civilization, whose history has a reasonable tendency towards tolerance and attention to civilized and cultural rapprochement, and considering the neighborhood a “bond of hearts” before it is a geographical link?
* Will it remove from itself the suspicion of building a deadly nuclear weapon, and act as a peaceful nuclear force that seeks to establish joint alliances that make the region a “strategic center for the production of nuclear energy with peaceful purposes” only?
Finally, can we bet on the dissolution of Iran, the neighbor, about the situation created by its expansionist faith, which it seems that the global mood has fed up with it, and has become a burden on the balance of its interests, to reach its role to a new conviction that makes it begin with a different demarcation of its external relations? A demarcation characterized by rationality and political guidance, and includes its acceptance of the fait accompli in order to present a renewed image of “Iran tomorrow” – if you will – see its influence embodied in maximizing its common interests with its geographical surroundings, and preserves the “whispering right” – that is, the right of the neighbor – which expresses, on every occasion, its good deeds towards it.
I do not know what Iran will deal with its current moment and its changing reality, in order to retrieve its missing popularity through a “historical reconciliation” that comes with the ruin of regional harmony. Until God happens, I will consider the aforementioned possibilities of “a dream on a summer night” in the Shakespearean way, to escape the nightmare of uncertainty and the warning of war looming on the horizon.
