New leak
These statements came after former Pentagon employees reported that Higsith participated in another group on “Segnal” details of the March attack on the Houthis, which included his wife, brother and personal lawyer.
It also came at a very sensitive time for the Minister of Defense, with the dismissal of senior Pentagon officials, last week, as part of an internal investigation in leaking information.
The Pentagon denies
The Pentagon spokesman, Sean Barnil, had previously denied the news of the participation of Higseth information about American air strikes on Yemen in a second chat group via the “Segnal” application.
He confirmed in a statement posted on his account in “X”, that what was rumored is just false news, which was promoted by “the media of President Donald Trump, and obsessed with the destruction of everyone who adheres to the president’s agenda,” as he put it.
Former employees are indignant
He also described these accusations as “nonsense”, adding that the media that promoted these rumors relied on “former, disturbing employees and statements of the people who were separated this week.”
He concluded, stressing that “the Minister of Defense is getting more powerful and efficient in implementing the Trump agenda.”
Internal investigation
It is noteworthy that Higseth, a former broadcaster on “Fox News”, is also undergoing an internal investigation in the Pentagon after participating sensitive information on the Signal messaging service on March 15 in a conversation that appeared to be a journalist who was apparently invited.
The magazine “The Atlantic”, last month, revealed that its editor -in -chief was mistakenly involved in a chat on “Segnal”, during which officials, including Higseth, and US National Security Adviser Mike Walz, discussed the issue of air strikes carried out on March 15.
