The journalist Mona Khalil, head of the Federation of Animal Prediction Associations, published through her personal page on Facebook, a statement of the qualitative union of animal welfare societies, to respond to incitement to the extermination of street dogs, which Shihab Abdel Hamid, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Animal Welfare Association, called through a previous publication.
The Specific Union of animal welfare associations
The statement stated: The Specific Union of animal welfare associations in Egypt continues with great anxiety and condemnation, the shocking statements issued by one of the individuals who heads an association – who is supposed to be an animal kindergarten association – where he launched an explicit invitation to exterminate street dogs, which constitutes a serious incitement to violence against animals and a flagrant violation of human values and relevant international covenants, as well as its explicit violation of the Egyptian laws.
The statement added: This is not the first time that this person incites against street animals and spreading unreal numbers and news with the aim of provoking public opinion, as he was not satisfied with that, but also incited against the real animal welfare associations that work hard and sincerely to protect these creatures.

He continued: This is unfortunately, because in all the places in which this person was in the name of the association he heads, he had a direct negative impact on the animals that were killed or disappeared, and the worst of that, that when his association was in the Sharabiya area, the bodies of some animals were found inside the headquarters, which raises great question marks about his real practices and goals.
The statement continued: The statements of this person do not in any way represent the real society to protect and care for animals in Egypt, but rather completely contradicts all norms and legislation that emphasize the importance of human dealings with living organisms. The qualitative union affirms that sustainable and compassionate solutions, such as sterilization, vaccination and community awareness programs, are the only scientific and moral ways to address street animal issues, and not resort to violence and genocide.
The Specific Union of animal welfare societies announced its intention to take all necessary legal measures against this person and everyone who promotes or incites violence against animals, based on Egyptian laws that criminalize incitement to violence and spread false news.
In its statement, the Union called on the competent authorities to intervene urgently to stop these immoral calls, and to impose deterrent penalties on all those involved in promoting such brutal practices.
The Specific Union of animal welfare societies called on all human rights organizations, animal lovers and civil society to join hands in the face of these misleading campaigns that aim to spread a culture of cruelty and violence, stressing that our Egyptian society, which embraces the honorable Al -Azhar and the Egyptian Church, cannot accept such violations against creatures that God created in honesty in our hands .. Together for a more human society that respects life in all its forms.
