The US State Department said today, Tuesday, that it is aware of the killing of an American boy of Palestinian origin at the hands of the Israeli forces in the occupied West Bank, and that it is seeking to obtain more information about the incident.
A spokesman for the ministry made these statements to reporters in response to a question about the killing of Omar Mohamed Rabie (14 years) and the shooting of two other young men.
The spokesman said: “We are fully aware of the incident. There is an investigation. We know the reports of the Israeli Defense Army that this was a work to combat terrorism, and we need to learn more about the nature of what happened on the ground. ”
The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned the incident, which occurred at the beginning of the week, describing it as a “execution outside the judiciary” carried out by the Israeli forces during a raid. A local mayor said that Rabie was killed with others by an Israeli settler, and that the Israeli army announced his death after his arrest.
The Israeli army announced that it had shot a “terrorist” of civilians at risk of throwing stones.
“We do not have a complete picture of what was happening on the ground,” the State Department spokesman added.
Last month, the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights said that Israel expanded settlements in the occupied West Bank as part of the steady merger of these lands in the State of Israel, in a violation of international law.
The violence of the settlers in the West Bank has intensified through matters, including the incursion into the occupied territories and raids since the start of the Israeli war on Gaza, which the Ministry of Health in Gaza says has killed more than 50 thousand people, and has caused genocide and war crimes, which Israel denies.
