The performance of the main indicators in Wall Street today, Wednesday, at Al -Fateh, after China announced the imposition of more customs duties on American goods in response to the anti -customary customs duties imposed by US President Donald Trump and entered into force earlier in the day.
The Dow Jones Industrial Index fell 257.7 points or 0.68% to 37387.91 points.
The Standard & Poor’s index fell 500 by 17.5 points or 0.35% to 4965.28 points.
The Nasdaq Synod index rose 27.5 points, or 0.18% to 15295,441 points.
Customs war
US President Donald Trump’s decision to impose customs duties on about 60 countries are in place, at five o’clock on Wednesday morning, GMT.
The decision is the last stage of Donald Trump’s comprehensive plan for international customs duties, which will include the imposition of higher import taxes, on what Trump describes as “the worst country violating commercial exchange.”
This stage includes a huge increase in customs duties imposed on China, as some Chinese goods will face customs duties exceeding 100%.
China raised customs duties on American goods to 84% from 34% starting from April 10, according to a government statement issued on Wednesday, in a new escalation of the trade war that rocked the world’s markets.
China’s move comes with the latest customs duties imposed by Trump on Wednesday afternoon in Beijing, bringing the total American tariffs on the goods made in China to 104%.
