Stefan Dujarric, a spokesman for the Secretary -General of the United Nations, announced on Monday that about 400,000 Palestinians have been displaced in the Gaza Strip since the resumption of Israeli military operations on March 18.
“The survivors in Gaza are pushing the displacement frequently and forcing the displacement to an area that is constantly shrinking as their basic needs cannot be met,” Dujarric said, while almost the entire Gaza population of 2.4 million people have been displaced at least once between October 7, 2023 and the beginning of the ceasefire in January (January).
The heads of the United Nations Refugee Affairs Office, Tom Fletcher, General Manager, called the World Health Organization Tedros Adhanum Guerbrisus, UNICEF Catherine Russell, and the World Food Program Cindy McCain, the world to “move urgently to save the Palestinians in Gaza.” They added, in a joint statement, that the residents of Gaza “are trapped again and are bombed and hungry, while food, medicines, fuel and shelters accumulate at the crossings, and vital equipment is banned”, after more than a month of Israel preventing the introduction of aid.
UN officials emphasized that “the assurances are that there is enough food to feed the Palestinians far from the reality on the ground. The stocks are very low.”
