In a move that reflects the depth of community participation, Eng. Khaled Hussein Nasr, Chairman and Managing Director of the Drinking Water and Sewerage Company in Dakahlia, signed contracts for donating two plots of land provided by the people of the two villages of the Drotin and its normalization of the Nabaruh Center, to establish sewage raising stations within the work of the Kitchen project to improve the wastewater department.

The donors and the director of the company’s community participation department were attended in a meeting that showed the spirit of cooperation and responsibility that the local community has in supporting the state’s efforts to improve the infrastructure in the Egyptian countryside.
In his speech during the signing, Eng. Khaled Hussein Nasr stressed the importance of the project, saying:
“This project is one of the major national projects that aims to improve the environmental and health situation in the villages, and it serves thousands of citizens, and it constitutes a qualitative shift in the level of services provided. We highly value the contribution of the people and their donation of lands, which reflects the awareness of society in its role in the success of these projects.”
He added: “Community participation represents an essential pillar in the implementation of the project, and donating landfills is a living example of the real partnership between citizens and the executing authorities.”
The Ketchner project, funded by the European Union and the European Investment Bank, is one of the largest sanitation improvement projects in Egypt. It aims to establish a treatment station in the village of Bahut with a design capacity of 16 thousand m/day, with expansion of the Nabaru processing station, to reach its total capacity to 25 thousand m/day, in addition to the construction of lifting stations and sewage networks for a number of villages affiliated with the Nabarouh Center.
This project represents a pioneering model for integration between the official authorities and the local community to achieve sustainable development and improve the quality of services in rural areas.
