Nawaf Salam, the Lebanese Prime Minister, announced that he will go to the Syrian capital, Damascus, today on an official visit during which he will meet Syrian President Ahmed Al -Shara, at the head of a high -level ministerial and security delegation.
Salam explained that the visit aims to discuss a number of outstanding files between the two countries, foremost of which is the forcibly disappeared file, in addition to following up the results of the last meeting in Jeddah between the defense ministers in the two countries, stressing the importance of bilateral coordination in security, political and economic issues of common concern.
Joint cooperation in the interest of the two brotherly peoples
In a related context, the Presidency of the Syrian Republic revealed a phone call made by Nawaf Salam to President Ahmed Al -Shara, during which he congratulated him on the holiday and the formation of the new Syrian government, wishing Syria and its people more stability and prosperity.
During the contact, the two sides discussed ways to enhance bilateral relations in various fields, as the Lebanese Prime Minister stressed the importance of joint cooperation in a way that serves the interests of the two brotherly peoples, expressing his hope that the new Syrian government will contribute to enhancing the process of development, stability and cooperation between Beirut and Damascus.
