Within the framework of its supervision of the implementation of Ministerial Resolution No. (40) of 2014 regarding the requirements and specifications of workers ‘housing, and the decision of the Minister of Health No. (76) of 2020 regarding the requirements and health specifications, the Ministry of Labor intensified its inspection campaigns on workers’ housing provided by employers to their workers, stressing the importance of adhering to the standards and requirements stipulated in the two ministerial decisions mentioned.
These campaigns are accompanied by the distribution of guidance publications aimed at educating employers and workers on the importance of applying safety and health requirements in workers ‘housing, and adhering to the approved criteria, especially with regard to providing the prescribed area for each worker in the rooms designated for housing, and not exceeding the number of workers in one room eight people, in addition to the other requirements stipulated legally, which guarantees promoting safety and health in workers’ housing and providing The necessary protection for them.
In this context, the Ministry stresses the importance of employers ’commitment to conduct periodic maintenance of these housing, and to make the necessary reforms to ensure that they are suitable for use according to the purpose prepared for it, and to match the requirements and specifications stipulated, including electrical connections and electrical boxes.
The Ministry stressed the necessity of employers to notify the notification of workers ’housing, and to provide all means of prevention and protection from the dangers of fire, in addition to the need to obtain a safety certificate from the fire from the General Administration of Civil Defense, as well as the importance of commitment to provide a first aid fund commensurate with the number of workers in housing.
