Rawan bint Naguib Tawfiqi, Minister of Youth Affairs, participated in the activities of the opening session of the Youth Forum of the United Nations Economic and Social Council, which was held at the organization’s headquarters in New York City in the United States of America, under the title “Work with Young people and for them to formulate comprehensive and sustainable solutions for the 2030 agenda”.
On the sidelines of the forum, the Minister of Youth Affairs participated in the ministerial meeting organized by the United Nations Youth Office, on enhancing youth participation in policy -making and decision -making. During her intervention, she stressed that empowering young people and involving them in decision -making is one of the main pillars to build more comprehensive and sustainable societies, noting that the participation of young people in formulating policies that affect their lives and affects their future reflects confidence in their creative capabilities and capabilities.
The Minister also participated in a dialogue session entitled “Effective Participation of Youth at Work”, where she reviewed the leading experience of the Kingdom of Bahrain in developing the youth sector. She explained that the Ministry of Youth Affairs has turned from being the main port of programs to the role of the organizer and the possible, which allowed the field to establish (23) youth associations specialized in various fields such as talent management, leadership, and innovation. She pointed out that these programs are mostly managed by volunteer youth, through which they acquire valuable experiences and skills, to return later as guides and guidelines for future generations.
The Minister of Youth Affairs stressed that the Kingdom of Bahrain focuses on enabling young people to contribute to resolving national challenges and enhancing their role in institutions, which contributes to building a sustainable and effective youth system.
The Minister also attended the effectiveness of the tenth anniversary of the approval of Security Council Resolution 2250 (2015), which recognizes the role of youth in promoting peace and security. It also witnessed the special event organized by the Russian Federation Mission, which dealt with Russian policies in supporting and empowering young people.
On the sidelines of her participation in the UN Forum, the Minister of Youth Affairs held a series of meetings with a number of senior officials of the United Nations, which included: Mr. Filimon Yang, President of the United Nations General Assembly for the 79th session, Felipe Paulier, Assistant Secretary -General for Youth Affairs, Wali Gouhua, Undersecretary of the United Nations Secretary -General for Economic and Social Affairs, Pop Ray, President of the Economic and Social Council.
During these meetings, the Minister of Youth Affairs praised the strong relations and fruitful cooperation between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the United Nations Organization of its various devices and bodies, especially in the youth sector, as well as ways to enhance joint cooperation, discussing the supportive initiatives to empower young people and enhance their role in achieving sustainable development goals.
