Doctor held Ashraf SobhiMinister of Youth and Sports, Engineer Yasser Idris, Chairman of the Egyptian Olympic Committee, an expanded meeting with the heads of the Olympic federations, to follow up the latest developments in the work plans during the coming period, and to evaluate the preparation efforts for the upcoming Olympic Games, in addition to discussing a number of organizational and legislative issues related to the sports movement in Egypt.
The Minister of Sports and the Chairman of the Olympic Committee are following future action plans with the heads of federations
The Minister started his speech by congratulating the Olympic Committee with its new formation, stressing that the next stage will witness more work and development in the sports system, noting that Egypt has become a global sports destination within the directives of the political leadership of President Abdel Fattah El -Sisi, President of the Republic.
The Egyptian state succeeded in organizing more than 430 international championships, expressing its full support for all federations, praising the spirit of cooperation that it brings under one umbrella to support the Egyptian state.
Dr. Ashraf Sobhi stressed the importance of institutional work based on planning and vision, stressing that the ministry started since 2018 to build a sustainable system to develop Egyptian sport in preparation for the Olympic sessions.
He pointed out that 16 sports federations have finished preparing his technical plan, and the remaining plans are being completed from the rest of the federations, while emphasizing that participation in the next session will be limited to those who have real opportunities in crowning medals, and not just honorable representation.
With regard to the Sports Law, the minister stressed that work on its amendment began since 2019 in cooperation with the Youth and Sports Committee in the House of Representatives, through more than 50 dialogues, noting that the amendments aim to achieve a balance between respecting international covenants and ensuring the rights of sports institutions, led by federations and clubs, as well as the head of the sports sector in the ministry and members of the Players Committee.
He also pointed to the study of the 8 -year clause according to international references, and to provide real guarantees to attract sports investments and enhance financial transparency.
The minister also reviewed a number of qualitative achievements of the federations, praising the achievement of the gymnastics union headed by Dr. Ihab Amin, and the Fmese Modern Federation, and weightlifting, pointing to efforts to support the players and maintain their level despite the challenges. He affirmed the ministry’s keenness to host the African Games 2027, more than 30 years after the last hosting, in light of the international sports facilities that Egypt possesses.
