Dr. Mohammed bin Mubarak bin Dinah, Minister of Oil and Environment, the Special Envoy for Climate Affairs, on the occasion of the Regional Environment Day, which falls on April 24 of each year, affirmed the firm commitment of the Kingdom of Bahrain to protecting maritime environmental systems, enhancing regional and international cooperation to ensure its sustainability, and proceeding with the implementation of its national and international obligations related to protecting the marine environment, in line with the goals of sustainable development, and the national action plan to achieve carbon neutrality By 2060.
He explained that the International Environment Day, which is held this year under the slogan “We sail towards sustainability”, comes to highlight the regional environmental challenges related to the seas and oceans, stressing that regional and international cooperation represents a major axis in facing these challenges.
The Minister also stressed the importance of strengthening the responsible environmental practices between the various groups of society, by raising the level of awareness of the importance of marine resources and their preservation, pointing out that this occasion is a favorable opportunity to renew the emphasis on the importance of protecting joint marine resources and ensuring their sustainability for future generations.
