The Minister of Industry and Trade, Abdullah bin Adel Fakhro, issued 23 decisions to adopt technical amendments to a number of Gulf standards, and convert them into national technical and standard regulations in various sectors.

These decisions included the issuance of national standard specifications in the field of energy efficiency, and the adoption of Gulf technical regulations for the food and agriculture sectors as national regulations, as they included 10 regulations approved by the Ministerial Committee of the Standardization Authority of the Cooperation Council countries.

Among the most prominent of these decisions is the adoption of technical adjustments to the Gulf standard specifications in the construction sector, which included five national amendments, including fire resistance tests for bearing elements such as walls, fire resistance tests and smoke control of the unquestionable doors and windows.

Technical modifications were also relied on Gulf standard specifications in the health sector, which included four national amendments, most notably the special requirements for safety and the basic performance of the stopping of bleeding with low -energy ionized gas.

In the field of children’s toys safety, Gulf standard specifications were adopted and approved as national specifications, which included 115 standards, including the ability to ignite, safety requirements for children’s bikes, standard specifications for safety and performance of recreational race vehicles, swimming pools on the surface of the earth for residential use, and the standard test to determine the relief of the impact of collision with the roofs of children’s stadiums.

Gulf standard food specifications have also been adopted in the food and agriculture sector, and their adoption as national specifications, most notably the methods of taking packed food products, vitamins and minerals allowed to be used in food products, nutritional guidelines of food provided in school canteens, methods of taking fish and crustaceans, physical and chemical methods for meat testing and products.

In addition, Gulf standard specifications were adopted in the mechanics sector, including storing tire storage requirements, coordination of the sizes of furniture and kitchen devices, glass design in the table of home and commercial furniture, the sizes and dimensions of wheel wheel, and home cooking utensils by pressure.

The decisions also included the adoption of Gulf standard specifications in the electricity, standards, chemistry, weaving, information, oil, gas, and management systems, in addition to canceling some national standards for the information sector.

This step comes within the framework of the Ministry’s keenness to update and develop national standards, in line with Gulf and international standards, to ensure the quality and safety of products, and to enhance trade exchange between the Kingdom of Bahrain and other countries.
