Dr. Badr Abdel -Ati, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration, received a delegation from the American Chamber of Commerce headed by Eng. Tariq Tawfiq, President of the Chamber in Cairo.

Ambassador Tamim Tamim, the official spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated that the minister affirmed keenness to consolidate economic, commercial and investment cooperation between Egypt and the United States, as it is a basic pillar in the strategic partnership between the two countries, praising the active role that the American Chamber of Commerce plays in Cairo in advancing economic and investment relations.
During the meeting, the minister highlighted a number of encouraging developments during the recent period, most notably the approval of adopting safety specifications for American cars after a long period of negotiations, as well as proceeding with procedures for signing the mutual aid agreement in customs affairs between the American side and the Egyptian customs authority.
Abdel Ati reviewed the efforts and reforms that the state undertook during the recent period to prepare the investment climate in Egypt, develop the business environment, and address the challenges facing investors, stressing that attracting direct foreign investments is a top priority for the Egyptian government.
He also dealt with the determinants of the Egyptian position on various regional developments, foremost of which is the Palestinian issue and the efforts made by Egypt to achieve calm and resume the ceasefire and mobilize support for the Arab plan to rebuild Gaza.
The meeting dealt with the ongoing arrangements to host Cairo for the “Future of Egypt Economic Forum” during the month of May, which is being organized in coordination with the American Chamber of Commerce in Washington with the wide participation of representatives of major American and Egyptian economic companies and institutions, where the forum reviews the investment opportunities available in various sectors in Egypt, and ways to deepen the economic partnership between Egypt and the United States.
An interactive meeting took place between Minister Abdel Ati and members of the American Chamber of Commerce in Cairo, where he listened to ideas and proposals to support economic, commercial and investment cooperation between Egypt and the United States.
