Today, Thursday, Dr. Mahmoud Esmat, Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy, conducted a field visit to the Atomic Energy Authority website in the Antas region in Sharkia Governorate, which includes the Nuclear Research Center, the Head laboratory Center and many laboratories and research centers in various scientific specializations.
This came within the framework of the general policy of the state by supporting research and scientific institutions, and working to maximize the role of distinguished bodies and benefit from scientific research and its applications in various fields, including the field of atomic energy, support for applied research projects, localization of modern technology, and add economic value through the use of the available infrastructure.
The visit comes within the framework of the continuous field tours to the various work and production sites, bodies and sectors of the Ministry in all governorates, in order to determine the actual reality of workflow and the most important challenges to improve performance rates, advance affiliated sectors, maximize returns, support and invest competencies and expertise accumulated, especially in the research and scientific bodies affiliated.

Dr. Mahmoud Esmat started the field visit, which is the third to the authority’s website in the Anshas area during the past months, in the presence of Dr. Amr Al -Hajj Ali, the head of the authority, heads of scientific centers and leaders and a group of scholars in the authority, where I listened to a detailed explanation of the work leaders and researchers in various fields and specializations on the importance and role of the centers and research and scientific laboratories, including the Nuclear Research Center, which is the most important and oldest centers of the authority and which contains Egypt’s research reactions The second and the first, and many laboratories and research facilities.
The center’s activities were reviewed in the field of producing distinguished breeds of wheat and currently being tried in experimental farms and fields in many reclamation areas and governorates to contribute to the production of new mutations with large productive production of about 30% over the traditional varieties, which will contribute to filling the food gap and achieving a safe amount of self -sufficiency, as well as the center’s responsibility for radiological detection activities at the level of all outlets of the Republic through Trained teams and laboratories for radioactive detection, and the first research reactor development project that was established in the 1960s was reviewed, the course of the development plan, which includes infrastructure and the provision of young human cadres to ensure sustainability.
The meeting dealt with areas of the work of the nuclear and radiological security center and the most important activities to serve the community in the fields of nuclear medicine, industry and peaceful uses of atomic energy, as it is the only center in Egypt specializing in the fields of nuclear and radiological safety. Nuclear and radiological safety and peaceful uses of atomic energy, support for oil companies and nuclear and radiological medicine units in hospitals as well as other nuclear bodies.
Esmat: The Atomic Energy Authority has accumulated competencies and experiences
Dr. Mahmoud Esmat said that the Atomic Energy Authority possesses accumulated competencies and experiences, and provided many scientific and research results that have been applied, stressing the need to develop strategic thought to face challenges and support the authority, both to develop infrastructure or to provide cadres because they are a major partner in the sustainable development plan and development projects in various economic fields, especially areas of peaceful uses of atomic energy and their applications in various fields such as Medical science, tumor treatment, radioisotope production, reclamation, and increased crop productivity, especially grain crops, agricultural manufacturing, conservation of products and localization of industry and modern technology, and is a research platform referred to in international forums in the field of developing, publishing and supporting the peaceful uses of atomic energy.
He pointed to the need to work in the spirit of the team and support the provision of young human cadres in the authority to ensure sustainability, adding that repeated visits come within the framework of the state’s attention to attention and benefit from the results of scientific research, localization of technology and support for local manufacturing, especially in the areas of peaceful uses of atomic energy.
