Dr. Badr Abdel -Ati, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration, met with a number of representatives of the Egyptian community in Tunisia in an expanded meeting at the Egyptian embassy in the capital, Tunis.
Minister Abdel -Ati stressed the priority that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs attaches to the care of Egyptian citizens abroad, reviewing in this context the efforts to develop consular services and the ongoing steps to implement the digital transformation plan for consular services and the development of digital infrastructure, which aims to facilitate transactions and provide time and effort on Egyptian citizens abroad, as part of a broader strategy aimed at benefiting from modern technology in serving citizens and providing full support to them.
He pointed out that the development of the consular services system includes the development of the procedures for issuing official documents, renewing passports, and facilitating the extraction of official papers electronically, which contributes to reducing the burdens on citizens and saving time and effort.
Egyptian initiatives abroad
In this context, Minister Abdel -Ati reviewed the many initiatives provided by the state to support Egyptians abroad, including the initiative to import Egyptians abroad, the initiative of the recruitment settlement, the home initiative in Egypt, and the initiative to speak Arabic and other initiatives that provide services to Egyptians abroad.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs dealt with the important role that the Egyptian communities play abroad in supporting the national economy, reviewing in this regard the procedures and reform policies adopted by the state to support the national economy and encourage external investment, as he also dealt with Egypt’s position on some regional developments and Egypt’s efforts to support security and stability in the region.
At the end of the meeting, Minister Abdel -Ati listened to the observations and proposals of Egyptian citizens residing in Tunisia on consular and economic issues, and Minister Abdel -Ati praised their care and attention from the Tunisian authorities at the official and popular levels.
