The CEO of the International Alliance praises the Egyptian experience in the field of financial inclusion and sustainable financing

Hassan Abdullah, Governor of the Central Bank of Egypt, received Dr. Alfred Hanig, CEO of the International Financial Inclusion Alliance, yesterday, Monday, April 7, 2025, in the presence of a number of leaders and officials of the Central Bank.

At the beginning of the meeting, the Governor expressed his appreciation for the fruitful cooperation between the Central Bank of Egypt and the International Alliance for Financial Inclusion, by providing access to international best practices in the field of financial inclusion and the exchange of scientific experiences with the central banks and the relevant regulatory authorities of the member states in this field.

Increased financial inclusion rates in Egypt to 74.8% at the end of 2024

The Governor also reviewed the efforts made by the Central Bank, in cooperation with the banking sector and the relevant authorities from ministries and bodies, in line with the Egyptian state’s vision to achieve economic empowerment for all groups of society, especially women, youth, people with determination, micro, small, medium and entrepreneurs, by preparing the appropriate legislative and supervisory structure and offering incentive initiatives, which contributed to increasing inclusive rates Financial in Egypt to reach 74.8% at the end of 2024.

For his part, the CEO of the International Alliance for Financial Inclusion praised the leading Egyptian experience in the field of financial inclusion and sustainable financing, which makes it a role model, explaining that the coalition is working in cooperation with the Central Bank to transfer that experience to many countries by arranging visits to Egypt to benefit from the efforts of the Central Bank of Egypt in this regard.

International Financial Inclusion Alliance

It is worth noting that the International Financial Inclusion Alliance was established in 2009, joined by the Central Bank of Egypt in 2013, and includes in its membership more than 90 financial institutions and central banks and controls from 83 countries, and the coalition aims to develop the tools used to implement financial inclusion, exchange technical and practical experiences between countries, and help them formulate economic policies and reform strategies and implement them.
