Two US officials told Reuters on Tuesday that the US military is preparing to enhance its presence in Syria in the coming weeks and months, in a move that might reduce the number of American forces in the country in half.

One of the officials, who occurred, said that his identity is not disclosed, said that the integration of the forces there may lead to reducing the number of forces in Syria to about 1,000 soldiers.
Another US official stressed that despite the reduction plan that the US Department of Defense will implement, at the same time he expresses doubts about the reduction of this size at a time when the administration of President Donald Trump was negotiating with Iran and mobilizing its forces in the region.
