Syrian President Ahmed Al -Sharaa offered his condolences to the Roman Catholic community on the death of Pope Francis, praising his humanitarian stances and support for the Syrian people during the years of war and suffering.
The Sharia President said in an official statement: “We extend my heartfelt condolences to the Roman Catholic community with the departure of Pope Francis, who stood by the Syrian people in the darkest times, and raised his voice repeatedly against the violence and injustice that affected the people of our country.”

He added: “His calls for peace exceeded the political borders, and it was a voice for the human conscience at a time when the language of war dominated the language of humanity. His legacy will remain in the moral courage and solidarity alive in the hearts of the Syrians, as in the hearts of millions around the world.”
The Syrian President concluded his statement by renewing the appreciation of the positions of the late Pope, stressing that “his memory will remain present in the conscience of everyone who believes in justice and peace.”
