The General Authority for Culture Palaces of Minya Culture, headed by Major General Khaled Al -Labban, organized in the context of celebrating the Resurrection of Arabic Literature, International writer Naguib Mahfouz, and under the slogan “Mahfouz in the Heart” launched by the Ministry of Culture under the auspices of Dr. Ahmed Fouad Hanu, and under the supervision of the writer Mohamed Nassef, Vice -President of the Authority, a distinguished cultural celebration in the lecture hall in the Minya Culture Palace.
This free event was held for the public within the plan of the Central Upper Egypt region under the supervision of Gamal Abdel Nasser, Director General of the region, and organized by the Minya Culture Branch headed by Rehab Tawfiq, to commemorate this literary giant and highlight its immortal impact on Egyptian and Arab culture.
The celebration witnessed a remarkable presence presented by Dr. Essam El -Fouly, head of Channel 7, Rehab Tawfiq, Director General of the Minya Culture Branch, and Iman Kamal, Director of the Minya Culture Palace, in addition to a group of intellectuals, writers and lovers of literature Naguib Mahfouz. The events began with the playing of national peace, followed by an impressive speech by Rehab Tawfiq, who thanked Dr. Essam El -Fouly and the generous attendance, and emphasized the pivotal role of the Ministry of Culture in commemorating our immortal literary symbols, and also indicated the importance of inspiring Mahfouz’s creations in promoting cultural and intellectual awareness.
A rich discussion took place during the celebration on the literary march busy with the great writer Naguib Mahfouz, and its deep impact on Egyptian and Arab culture.
The most prominent stations in his life and creativity that embodied the Egyptian reality in all its details, its pains and hopes were also reviewed, and it was stopped when he received the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1988, which raised the name of Egypt high in the sky of international literature.
This was followed by a speech by Dr. Essam El -Fouly, who reviewed the biography of the great writer Naguib Mahfouz, reaching his origin in the ancient Al -Jamaliya neighborhood, and his rich literary career that was characterized by quality and realism, and pointed out that most of his works revolve in the rehab of Egypt and discuss its social and economic issues boldly and deeply.
He also reviewed his most prominent immortal novels, led by the Cairo trilogy (between Kasserine, Al Shawq Palace, and Sukkariya), which is considered a social, political and cultural epic for Egypt in a decisive period of its history.
Dr. Al -Fuli discussed Mahfouz’s interest in women’s issues in Egyptian society, and his embodiment of their social and economic suffering and challenges through strong women’s personalities influencing his novels.
The celebration program included the presentation of a short documentary film that reviewed the most prominent life stations and works of Naguib Mahfouz, and gave glimpses of his novelist world and his immortal characters, as well as the door to discussion with the attendees about the distinguished dialogue that the writer used to embody the characters of his novels and give vitality and realism, and in a related context, a mini exhibition was organized that included a group of the most prominent works of Naguib Mahfouz, which allowed the audience the opportunity to recover these lords.
