Salman bin Ibrahim: Putting football development programs in South Asia

The President of the Asian Football Confederation, First Vice President of the International Football Association, Sheikh Salman bin Ibrahim Al Khalifa, stressed the need for the optimal investment to support the international and Asian federations in order to develop various development programs for football in South Asia, which meets the various pillars of the game.

This came during the presence of Sheikh Salman bin Ibrahim Al Khalifa, the extraordinary general assembly meeting of the Union of South Asia, which was held in the Sri Lankan capital, Colombo, on Friday, in the presence of the President of the South Asian Federation, the judge of Mohamed Salah al -Din, and a number of officials of the AFC and representatives of the national federations under the umbrella of the South Asian Union.

Sheikh Salman bin Ibrahim Al Khalifa delivered a speech during the meeting in which he expressed his thanks and appreciation to the South Asian Union for his invitation to attend the meeting, stressing the pivotal roles of the federation in developing the game in the Central Asia region at various levels.

Sheikh Salman bin Ibrahim affirmed the AFC keenness to provide full support to the South Asian Federation in the framework of its comprehensive support for regional federations and the existing partnership with it as an important pillar of football development in various parts of the Asian continent.

The President of the Asian Football Confederation praised the strategic plan of the South Asian Federation, which is in the field of upgrading the game system in the region, in addition to its continuous updating of its basic system, stressing the need for the optimal investment to support the international and Asian federations in order to develop various development programs for football in South Asia, which meets the various pillars of the game.

The President of the Asian Football Confederation expressed his thanks to the Sri Lankan Football Association headed by Jaguar Ummaru Libby for his hosting of the South Asian Federation meeting, praising the role of the Federation in strengthening the game’s march in the country, in addition to constructive interaction with the programs of international, continental and regional football organizations.

At the end of the meeting, Sheikh Salman bin Ibrahim Al Khalifa exchanged souvenirs with the President of the South Asian Union and the President of the Sri Lankan Federation, who expressed their thanks and appreciation to the President of the Asian Federation for attending the meeting of the General Assembly of the South Asian Federation, praising the rich contents of its speech confirming the continuous partnership between the continental union and the various regional federations.

Sheikh Salman bin Ibrahim Al Khalifa also met on the sidelines of the meeting with the heads of all national federations in South Asia, and ways to enhance close cooperation between the Asian Federation and the National Federations, including benefiting from the leading programs within the framework of the Excellence Academy in the Asian Football Association.
