The Tourism Committee of the House of Representatives, headed by Representative Noura Ali, held a meeting to discuss the controls related to licensing vacation apartments units and their impact on providing more hotel rooms.
The meeting was attended by representatives from the Ministry of Tourism, including the head of the Central Administration of Hotel Facilities, Mahalla and Tourism Activities, the Director General of Hotel Facilities Licenses, Director General of Control and Follow -up of Hotel Establishments, and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Chamber of Hotel Facilities.
Representative Noura Ali said that this step represents a strong addition to the tourism sector in Egypt, which requires setting controls that contribute to the implementation of the Ministry’s targets to ensure the level of quality of tourism services.

She explained that these controls and requirements aim primarily to ensure the required level of quality, security and safety, and the amenities to check on their readiness to receive tourists.
She continued that this system is applied in many countries of the world, which is one of the urgent solutions, and a temporary alternative until Egypt’s balance of hotel energy is raised in order to accommodate the targeted numbers.
She asked about the definition of leave apartments, conditions and controls set by the Ministry to license the units, standards and requirements specified to obtain a license license for a license apartment? The extent of the existence of a legal procedure against those who fail to register or license.
At the end of the meeting, the committee recommended the following:
Facilitating licensing procedures by activating a unified electronic platform to submit applications for licensing apartments, which are clear and quickly, while reducing bureaucratic procedures.

Preparing a comprehensive guidance guide that clarifies the conditions, controls and obligations required to obtain the license in terms of quality standards, hygiene, security and safety rules, and providing an electronic copy on the ministry’s website.
The application of a balanced control system by activating a periodic control system, which achieves quality guarantee and continues to provide support and follow -up from investors with apartments.
Providing a sufficient number of workers to evaluate housing units in all governorates in accordance with the criteria and controls of the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities.
Insert vacation apartments within promotional and marketing campaigns and official sites to enhance their demand.
Expedite the activation of the application of the hotel and tourism establishments law issued by Law No. 8 of 2022, and to facilitate procedures for tourism and hotel investment licenses and licensing, construction and employment approvals.
Study the inclusion of a system for classifying apartments in the relative, through which a classification of units can be made according to the degrees of their distinction (such as the stars system), which contributes to raising the level of service, and shows the diversity of the options available to the tourist.
