The ousted Syrian president, Bashar al -Assad, announced the formation of “elite forces” to protect what he called the “Syrian Sahel region” in cooperation with the former commander of the former Syrian regime army, Suhail Al -Hassan.
Makhlouf said in the statement that he posted on his Facebook page, that he worked Suhail Al -Hassan, to “reactivate the elite forces in the Syrian coast region, by forming a division of about 150 thousand members of the Special Forces, in addition to a reserve force in the same issue, as well as the establishment of popular committees with a number of one million people.”
Makhlouf sent a message to the current Syrian government, saying: “Let us cooperate to protect the country, achieve the interest of the servants, and provide security and safety, especially in the Syrian coast region, and to revitalize it socially and activate it economically in cooperation between us.”
He determined that the Syrian flag, which will be raised in the “Syrian coast region”, will be in its previous colors during the era of the “red, white and white” regime.
He continued: «We in the region of the Syrian coast appeal to the international community, headed by our friends in the Russian Federation, to include the Syrian coast region to take care of it to harness all our economic, military and popular capabilities, and put them under their supervision, and in order to ensure that the whole forces that we mobilized are not the purpose of revenge from anyone, but rather the protection of our people in the coastal region from any attack.
