President André Doda, President of Poland, received this morning His Holiness Pope Tawadros II and the delegation accompanying his holiness, in the presidential palace in Warsaw, as part of the current tour of His Holiness the Pope in the diocese of central Europe, which he started last Friday with a visit to Poland.

President Doda welcomed the sanctity of the Pope, expressing his happiness with this meeting, which he described as “a meeting of love”, against the background of his visit to Egypt in May 2022 and his meeting with His Holiness the Pope at the papal headquarters in Cairo.

The President emphasized the deep position that Egypt occupies in the hearts of the Poles, saying: “Egypt has a long history and its Coptic Orthodox Church with great spiritual seniority, so Poland knew Christianity about a thousand years ago, as Christian faith entered its lands in the tenth century AD.” He expressed his appreciation for the presence of Copts in Poland and their pastoral service in an atmosphere

Poland President: Poland is one of the most religious European countries

The President also pointed out that Poland is one of the most religious countries, as it abounds in many open and closed monasteries, pointing out that he is keen to visit these monasteries regularly to pray, expressing his happiness by watching young people who devote their lives to serve God, peace and salvation of souls.

For his part, His Holiness, in his speech, expressed his deep gratitude for the warm reception, saying: “I am pleased to express my sincere gratitude for the opportunity to visit your beautiful country, Poland, this country with a great history, with a wise leadership and a strong people who cherishes its history and works hard for its future.”

Egypt was a refuge for the Holy Family

His Holiness referred to President Doda’s words during their meeting in Cairo that Egypt was a refuge for the Holy Family, and therefore the presence of Copts in it for thousands of years is important for all of the Christian faith, and commented: These words we carry in our hearts and rejoice in our presence in a vibrant country and the beauty of history

His Holiness reviewed a glimpse of the history of the Coptic Orthodox Church, noting that it is an ancient church dating back about two thousand years, founded in Alexandria at the hands of St. Mark the Apostle, expressing his appreciation for the support that the Egyptians receive, including the Copts, from the state in Poland, appreciating the efforts made to support the Church of the Copts emerging there and serve it under the auspices of the Nabbah Viovanni.

His Holiness called on the Pope Doda to visit Egypt again, welcoming his reception in the Coptic Orthodox Church.

At the end of his speech, he said: I raise my heart by praying to God to bless Poland, leadership and people, and to give you strength and wisdom to achieve more progress and prosperity, and to perpetuate love and peace between all the peoples of the world, and at the end of the meeting, souvenirs were exchanged between His Excellency the President and His Holiness.
