The Faculty of Medicine, Qasr Al -Aini at Cairo University, decided to start studying on the medical education program in the French language “Kasr Al Ainy French – Kaf” next academic year (2025-2026).
This is under the patronage of Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, with the support of Dr. Muhammad Sami Abdel Sadiq, President of Cairo University, and supervised by Dr. Hossam Salah, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine of Qasr Al -Aini and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the University Hospitals.
Dr. Mohamed Sami Abdel -Sadiq stressed that the launch of the study with this program represents a qualitative step that confirms the college’s commitment to its historical role as a leading and influential scientific center in the African continent and the French -speaking world, and enhances the competitiveness of graduates of Qasr Al -Aini medicine, and establishes the college’s position in the heart of the map of global medicine, as a source of scientific and humanitarian radiation extending from Cairo to all countries of the French -speaking African continent.
The President of the University added that this program started its features since 2023 from an ambitious vision aimed at opening the prospects for medical education for students of French -speaking countries, especially in Africa and the Nile basin, along with the Mediterranean countries, in a way that enhances academic communication and devotes the role of Al -Aini Palace as a development, human and scientific bridge between Egypt and Africa.
Dr. Mohamed Sami Abdel -Sadiq indicated that the idea of the program underwent an integrated study that included a SWOT analysis, which resulted in the presence of a distinguished human base that includes more than 90 faculty members and a helping body who master the French language and are able to teach in various departments of the college. This rule was supported by rehabilitating 60 additional members through extensive educational programs in cooperation with the French Language Department at the Faculty of Arts, to exceed the total cadres ready to work in the program about 150 members at the start of the next school year.
For his part, Dr. Hossam Salah, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Cairo University Hospitals, explained that in October 2023, he issued a decision to form a specialized committee for the French program headed by Dr. Nadine Alaa Sharif, Professor of Gynecology and Obstetrics, to supervise the implementation of the program and follow up on all its academic and organizational axes, and the college has completed over the year a comprehensive translation of all curricula of the first and second year (theoretical – practical – questions) to the language French, with its accurate review by an academic committee, is currently completing the translation of the third division curricula in preparation for the full launch on the specified date.
The Dean of the College of Medicine added that the full academic regulation of the program was prepared, reviewed and approved in all the competent councils, and the period of study is five years,
The program adopts the methodology of medical education based on wall (CBME) according to the reference national standards (NARS 2017), and combines the evaluation system, between training and cumulative calendars, and documents self -learning through a paper or electronic achievement file.
The program is actually applied to new students enrolled in the first group of the Faculty of Medicine at the beginning of the 2025-2026 academic year, making it a new academic platform.
