The famous American writer Thomas Friedman said that US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu are in the creation of the world of “post -America” and “post -Israel”.

In an opinion article published in the New York Times, Thomas Friedman said that Netanyahu was going into a campaign aimed at “undermining the authority of the Supreme Court in Israel to monitor the decisions of the executive and legislative authorities.”

He added: “Netanyahu’s goal today is to dismantle all the basic components of democracy,” as an Israeli official wrote.

He continued: “Netanyahu himself is being tried on corruption charges, and the Israeli opposition accuses him – as well as a number of hostages of the hostages – of prolonging the war in Gaza to satisfy the Jewish extremists who keep him in power, and may avoid him entering prison.”

He explained that “prolonging the war also delays the formation of any investigation committee in this catastrophic war, which erupted during his term and for reasons that refer directly to the failure of its policies.”

Friedman stressed that Netanyahu “feels – like Trump and thanks to him – that he is above accountability, and that nothing could drop him.”

He continued: “This pattern of thinking leaks down, and leads to incidents such as those that occurred last month, as Israeli forces killed 15 paramedics and rescue worker in southern Gaza, an incident by which a senior Israeli army officer said to the Haaretz in the leadership chain, simply lied about it -.”

He pointed out that what is happening in Israel and America is not just a passing political crisis, but rather a fundamental shift in the identity of the two countries.
