Fatima bint Jaafar Al -Serafi, Minister of Tourism, confirmed that the Bahrain Grand Prix for Gulf Aviation Formula is considered one of the most prominent international sporting events supporting sports tourism, which is one of the basic pillars of the tourism strategy for the years (2022-2026), as it is one of the vital engines contributing to the growth of the tourism sector.
She explained that the Bahrain Grand Prix of Gulf Aviation for Formula and that it represents an integrated tourist season, due to its positive implications for raising the levels of tourist and economic indicators, and the exceptional opportunities that provide it to enhance the promotion of the Kingdom of Bahrain on the global scene, in addition to highlighting the distinguished cultural identity of the Bahraini society.
Al -Serafi added that hosting the Kingdom of Bahrain for international sporting events of this size reflects the confidence of the international community in the Kingdom’s advanced tourism infrastructure, and a high ability to host and organize major events, with the support of qualified national cadres with the cumulative experiences that it gained through continuous successes since the start of races in the Bahrain International Circuit.
She said that the Bahrain Grand Prix for Gulf Aviation Formula and contributes greatly to stimulating the tourism movement and achieving the main indicators associated with it, as the season witnessed last year the attendance of about 100 thousand visitors and tourists from car racing lovers from all over the world, which contributed to enhancing the occupancy rates in hotels, increasing the number of tourist nights and spending visitors. Other sectors such as restaurants, shopping centers, and logistics services have also benefited from the large activity resulting from the race.
The Minister of Tourism noted the importance of investing the major sporting events in promoting the distinguished tourism ingredients of the Kingdom of Bahrain, and enhancing its position on the global tourism map.
