Minister of Municipal Affairs and Agriculture: Issuing 2637 building licenses during the first quarter of 2025

Engineer Wael bin Nasser Al Mubarak, Minister of Municipal Affairs and Agriculture, affirmed that the Kingdom of Bahrain is witnessing continuous growth in the urban and investment sector, in line with the comprehensive development renaissance led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the King of the Great Country, may God protect and preserve him, and with a continuous follow -up by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, may God protect him.

He explained that the construction sector recorded during the first quarter of 2025 the issuance of 2637 construction licenses, an increase of 62% compared to the same period in 2024, indicating that this number is the highest since 2021, which reflects positive indicators of economic growth and constitutes an incentive to continue performance with high efficiency.

The Minister of Municipal Affairs and Agriculture indicated that the total area of ​​construction bodies that were licensed reached about 862 thousand square meters, an increase of 70% over the first quarter of the previous year, which indicates an increasing positive activity in real estate and investment development projects, stressing that these numbers reflect the Kingdom’s attractiveness to investments, thanks to the supportive environment and facilities

The stimulating government, praising in this regard the role of the electronic “buildings” system in accelerating the pace of issuing licenses and improving the quality of the services provided.

The minister added that the system contributed to the issuance of 522 licenses during a short period of time, ranging from two daily work, and a maximum that does not exceed 5 working days, which strengthened the efficiency of performance and the speed of completion, pointing out that investment licenses and a special nature formed about 19.3% of the total licenses, while residential licenses accounted for about 80.7% until the date of April 20.

He indicated that new services have been introduced through the system that include burial licenses, stomach, integration, separation, restoration and change of use, with the aim of facilitating procedures and enhancing the quality of services for investors and real estate developers in the Kingdom, noting that the “buildings” system contributed greatly to developing the mechanism of issuing licenses in line with Bahrain’s economic vision 2030, through the involvement of the private sector and the provision of a stimulating environment for real estate investment.
