Nawwaf bin Muhammad Al -Ma’wada, Minister of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments in charge of the tasks of the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Personal Data Protection Authority, announced that the ministry started receiving requests for appointment of data protection monitors in the private sector, in the categories classified by the authority as high risk in the field of personal data. According to the nature of the work, the type of activity and the size of the risks resulting from the use of personal data, and it decided to compel the classified sectors as high -risk, which are the financial, business, banking, banking, education, health and communications sectors, by appointing a data protection observer, whose basic task is to monitor and verify the implementation of the provisions of the Personal Data Protection Law No. (30) of 2018 and the decisions issued in implementation of it, and to provide the necessary assistance in that for data managers, and coordination between the body The data manager regarding the latter applying the provisions for processing personal data, and holding a record of processing operations that the data manager must notify the authority. Certain to address the dangers resulting from the use of personal data for individuals, and combating their privacy, in addition to applying a legal framework that coincides with international legislation to protect personal data for individuals, and their personal freedoms. The minister is referred to that the ministry, in cooperation with the Institute of Judicial and Legal Studies and the Bahrain Institute for Banking and Financial Studies (BIBF), will launch a training program for data protection monitors, to be one of the basic requirements The observer practiced his duties and duties assigned to it in accordance with the provisions of the law. He indicated that the authority has established a special record for registration of the accredited data protection monitors who have the requirements stipulated in Resolution No. (46) of 2022 regarding data protection monitors, stressing the importance of the observer’s role as a vital component in assisting data managers in the private sector in applying the provisions of the law and decisions issued in implementation, An effective control tool that guarantees the authority the proper application of the provisions of the law, in addition to creating a safe and healthy environment that guarantees the commitment to the optimal use of the personal data of individuals in a safe manner and for legitimate purposes.
