The Minister of Industry and Trade Abdullah Fakhro stressed that the ministry is interested in achieving a balance between bringing in specific investments and protecting Bahraini merchants, indicating that there are 225 commercial activities that require the presence of a Bahraini partner, while foreign investments aim to have added value, and employ citizens and raise their capabilities. In his response to the question of Representative Hamad Al -Dawi, he stated that the number of records increased to 88900 records until last Monday, and the records owned by foreigners do not exceed 18%, as there are 16209 records owned by foreigners.
He explained that the ministry is monitoring the market continuously, reviewing a number of decisions that protect the Bahraini merchant, and give it preference to the market, noting that the number of inspection campaigns increased last year by 35% over the year before.
For his part, MP Hamad Al -Dawi asked: How many foreign records were employed by the Bahrainis, Karak store or a green shop, how much Bahraini employed?
He continued: Everyone complains, a foreigner residing in a Gulf state that has 40 Karak stores and rents it, and comes every month “takes the division”, why does the foreigner give the authority to invest in Bahrain, how many Bahraini prepare for the court because of a foreign partner, and some of them are members of the House of Representatives.
