British Foreign Secretary David Lami said in a statement on Saturday that Israel prevented the entry of two British deputies who were visiting the country as part of a parliamentary delegation and detaining them at the airport.

“She explained to the Israeli government officials that this is not a way to treat British parliamentarians, and we contacted the two deputies tonight to provide our support for them,” Lami added.

The Israeli government did not comment on the statement of the British minister immediately.

For its part, the newspaper “Times of Israel” said that the members of the British Parliament related to the Labor Party, Ibtisam Muhammad and Yuan Yang.

She said that the reason for their prevention came after interrogations revealed that the purpose of their visit was “highlighting the work of the Israeli security forces and the deployment of hate speech against Israel.”
