Khaled bin Hamad honors the winners of the chess championship for Bahrain Schools

Under the patronage of Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, Chairman of the General Authority for Sports and Chairman of the Bahrain Olympic Committee, the Ministry of Education organized the closing ceremony of the Highness of the Chess Championship for the Schools of the Kingdom of Bahrain in its third edition, in cooperation with the General Authority for Sports and the Bahrain Chess Federation, in the presence of Dr. Muhammad bin Mubarak Jumaa, Minister of Education, and with the wide participation of public and private schools.

On this occasion, His Highness Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa praised the success of this version of the championship, the efforts made in its organization, and the wide student participation it received, stressing the importance of chess as one of the games reinforcing mental skills and the capabilities of strategic and creative thinking, and the role of such competitions in discovering promising talents to support national teams.

He praised the distinctive level witnessed by the tournament, contrary to the high talents and mental capabilities of the students, stressing that investing in young minds, and developing their thinking and planning skills, represents an essential pillar to build a bright future for our dear homeland, and His Highness aspires to more initiatives that support the development of youth energies.

For his part, Dr. Muhammad bin Mubarak Jumaa, Minister of Education, delivered a speech in which he expressed his deep thanks and appreciation to His Highness Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, to support his continuous highness for school sports activities, including this tournament, which witnessed its current version of more than 5 thousand male and female students in qualifying roles inside schools, from 210 government schools and 55 private schools, 530 students qualified for the advanced qualifiers The sponsoring and supportive bodies of the championship, indicating the inauguration of 20 chess academies inside government schools, benefiting more than 400 students, within the framework of the Ministry’s keenness to enhance interest in this mental sport in the educational field.

The ceremony included sports paragraphs presented by students of Aqaba Bin Nafi Elementary School for Boys, and Umm Kulthum Elementary School for Girls, then 24 winners of students in various championship categories were honored, and the sponsoring and supportive bodies were honored: (Platinum Shepherd) Jeepak, (Golden Shepherd), GME Company, Primer Motr Company, Bahrain Cinema Company, Royal Hospital, The Art Hotel, National Transport Company, Marwa Water.
