Join the National Cancer Institute at Cairo University

Cairo University, headed by Dr. Mohamed Sami Abdel Sadiq, has achieved a new achievement in the field of scientific research, as the Institutional Committee for Reviewing Medical Research Ethics at the National Institute of Oncology joined the IRB to the Supreme Committee for Research Ethics in the Council of Ministers.

Dr. Mohamed Sami Abdel -Sadiq, President of the University, stressed that this step represents an unprecedented achievement for the institute as a third institution affiliated with Cairo University, after the Faculty of Qasr Al -Aini Medicine and the College of Nursing, which is a reflection of the university’s commitment to the highest moral and scientific standards in medical research.

The President of the University added that this achievement enhances the scientific status of the Institute of Oncology, as it is one of the leading and unique bodies in the field of medical research at the local and international levels, which contributes strongly to the development of the health sector in Egypt, and in line with the vision of Cairo University and its strategy to support scientific research, in light of the national strategy for higher education and scientific research launched by Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and in line with Egypt’s Vision 2030.

Abdel -Sadiq explained that the joining of the Institutional Committee to review the ethics of medical research at the Oncology Institute of the Supreme Committee for Research Ethics in the Council of Ministers is a very important step, to enhance the status of the institute globally and contributes to developing the scientific research environment in Egypt, and at the same time reflects excellence in the field of medical research, and stresses the importance of the role of this committee in organizing and reviewing research, to ensure its commitment to moral and scientific standards.

For his part, Dr. Mohamed Abdel -Moaty Samra, Dean of the National Cancer Institute, stressed that this achievement represents a milestone in the institute’s march, as it opens new horizons for scientific cooperation with international research institutions, and enhances the quality of research within the institute, and guarantees its commitment to moral and legal standards.

The institutional committee also continues its role in reviewing international and local research, in addition to the research of faculty members and master’s and doctoral theses, to ensure the highest levels of scientific trust and quality.

The Dean of the National Cancer Institute added that this step is a strong motivation for more excellence in the field of scientific research and opens the doors of cooperation and development in the fields of medicine and medical research at various levels locally, regional and international.
