The Israeli Finance Minister, Btalal Smotrich, announced on Monday evening his resignation from his position as a financial minister and a second minister in the Ministry of Defense.
Smootic said that he would return to the Knesset as a member of it, accusing the Minister of National Security, Etamar bin Ghafir, of violating the agreements between them.
“Smotrich’s resignation is a temporary protest step that may take 48 hours in which Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu intervenes to solve the problem.”
A spokesman for Smotrich said that this step came in protest against the request of Bin Ghafir to obtain more ministerial positions upon his return to the government.
Local reports stated that the move is unlikely to lead to the collapse of the Netanyahu coalition.
