Iraqi Prime Minister Muhammad Shi’a Al -Sudani announced an official invitation to Syrian President Ahmed Al -Sharaa to participate in the Arab summit that will be held in Baghdad next month.
The Sudanese explained, during his participation, today, Wednesday, at the Sulaymaniyah International Forum: that “an official invitation was sent to the Syrian President to attend the upcoming Baghdad summit, and he was welcome to attend the summit.”
He also added that “the upcoming summit is an important event to receive Arab leaders and presidents, and we will have an important role in addressing security and economics issues,” according to the Iraqi News Agency.
He continued, saying: “Our relations are distinguished with the Arab countries, and we have economic agreements, and in the field of energy, as we care about the situation in Syria, and Iraq is not a party to any political axes.”
The first contact between Sudanese and Sharia
It is noteworthy that the Sudanese expressed his country’s support for “the options of the Syrian people”, in the first direct contact he gathered in the law early this month.
The Sharia then stressed “Iraq’s steadfast position by standing alongside the options of the Syrian people, and the importance of the political process to include all its spectrums and components, and to pour the path of peaceful coexistence and societal security, for a safe and stable future for Syria and all the region.”
He also stressed “Iraq’s rejection of the Israeli incursions into the Syrian territories” and Baghdad’s support for “the unity, safety and sovereignty of Syria.”
The Syrian Foreign Minister, Asaad Al -Shaibani, went to Iraq, last March, on an official visit that was the first since Sharia took over the presidency of the new administration in Syria after the fall of the Bashar al -Assad regime.
Al -Shaibani said during his visit to Iraq that Damascus is “ready to cooperate with Baghdad” in fighting ISIS, adding that “security in Syria is an integral part of the security of Iraq.”
