The Iraqi Ministry of Oil said that the third maritime pipeline project contributes to strengthening the export capabilities of crude oil from the southern region of Iraq, with a design capacity of 2.4 million barrels per day, by linking three strategic outlets.

“The project consists of a naval tube with a diameter of 48 knots, which extends 61 km inside the sea, and 9 kilometers on land,” said the general manager of Basra Oil Company, in the name of Abdul Karim.

He added that “the tube connects three naval platforms: the first for valves close to the Basra oil port, the second near the Khor Al-Amaiya port, in addition to the SPM-4 export platform”, according to the Iraqi News Agency “conscious.”

Abdel Karim said, “The project also includes vital support projects, including the marine cable that includes communications, electricity, electrical and communications systems.”

He said, “The Italian and Easta Turkish coalition was chosen to implement the project after a technical, commercial and financial evaluation out of four advanced companies, and under the supervision of the Japanese consultant accredited in the project.”

He added that “the project implementation period is two years, and the initial operations of the Basra clip will start within 8 to 9 months, which is a period included in the full time frame of the project.”
