Iranian Interior Minister Iskandar believes, on Monday, that the explosion that occurred on Saturday in the largest commercial port in the country was caused by “neglect” and the lack of respect for security measures.
The firefighting elements continues, for the third consecutive day, in an attempt to put out the fire, which killed 65 people, according to the latest outcome published today.
A believer told official television: “The identities of some singers have been identified and arrested … A negligence occurred, especially lack of adherence to security measures and neglect at the level of civil defense.”
During his visit to the port of “Rajai”, he explained that the necessary measures will be taken and any entity that neglected its duties is held at any level.
Momni said: “At 12:04 pm on the day of the accident, we noticed a small flame that has not been caused carefully yet. Within almost a minute, the fire was strong and accompanied by a massive explosion.
He added that the investigations will focus on the adherence to safety procedures, the effectiveness of the civil defense, and the validity of the flammable materials.
He announced the formation of a specialized committee to collect evidence and initial documents and conduct an accurate investigation into the circumstances of the explosion.
These statements come as firefighting teams are fighting to control the fire, pending the completion of investigations to determine the main cause of the explosion.
The cause of the explosion was not immediately clear, but the Customs Office in the port said that it is more likely the result of a fire that broke out in a warehouse to store dangerous and chemical materials.
Pictures of surveillance cameras that spread on social media showed that the accident started with a small fire and an orange smoke escalated into brown, before a ball from the fire exploded.
The fire can be seen as it erupts in the stacked containers in exchange for a warehouse, while a small crane passes near the smoke, and men appear walking near them.
After about a minute and eight seconds of the small fire and smoke escalated, the fire ball broke out as vehicles passed near them, and men were seen trying to move away from the danger.
The Iranian guide, Ali Khamenei, ordered a comprehensive investigation to determine whether there was “neglect or intent” behind the disaster.
Fatima Jarra, a deputy Bandar Abbas in Parliament, said that the investigation of the explosion should investigate two main possibilities: neglect or sabotage.
“Transparency is required, whatever the reason, whether it is negligence, negligence, or sabotage … the people must be provided with sincere and clear information, and the availability of the circumstances of the accident accurately.”
A Jarra also criticized the delay in informing the public, pointing out that reporting the incident was not done at the appropriate time. She added, “It is not reasonable for a mine to collapse a day, and then we are witnessing a new incident,” noting the need to review the methods of managing crises in the country.
The explosion occurred on Saturday in the port near the Strategic Strategic Strait, through which the fifth of global oil production passes.
Iranian official media reported that the number of dead explosions in the port of Bandar Abbas, the most important port of containers in Iran, rose to at least 65.
According to the official “IRNA” agency, quoting Mahdad Hassan Zadeh, Director of Crisis Management in Hormuzjan Governorate, earlier that “138 wounded people are still in the hospital.”
The number of the wounded exceeded a thousand after explosions and fires that affected several containers in the port.
Heavy black smoke is still rising over stacked containers in the port of “Rajai”, according to clips broadcast on official television on the air, on Monday morning.
Iranian television showed pictures of the extinguishing firearms while they were extinguishing the fire, and said that the damage will be evaluated after completely controlling the fire, while dense columns of smoke appeared to escalate over the stacked containers on the site.
On Sunday, President Masoud Bouchakian visited the hospitals that received the wounded in the nearby southern city of Bandar Abbas.
Since the explosion, the authorities have ordered the closure of all schools and companies in the region, and urged the residents to avoid going out “until another notice” and put the protective masks.
Meanwhile, three Russian aircraft joined the firefighters in Bandar Abbas. The air formation includes two heavy load -load planes, in addition to a driver, according to the Mehr News Agency.
This came after Russian President Vladimir Putin offered his condolences on Sunday, and suggested that Iran help extinguish the fire.
The Iranian ambassador to Moscow, Kazem Jalali, stated in a tweet on the X platform, that the Russian authorities responded immediately to request support at night, and sent three planes specialized in firefighting, including the “B200” plane and the “Euction-76” plane loaded with relief teams, to control the fire of the “Rajai” port.
The pro -Islamic Republic of the government of Masoud Boussabkian criticized the deteriorating security situation in Iran.
She pointed out that the incident “cannot be separated from the security context” of the country, asking, “If this explosion constitutes a turning point to end the current situation.”
The newspaper also linked the incident and the third round of Iranian -American negotiations, saying that “Israel may be involved in the incident, due to the failure of its attempts to thwart the negotiations.” She warned of the possibility of repeating such incidents in another.
The New York Times quoted a source related to the Iranian “Revolutionary Guard”, which asked not to be identified, as saying that what exploded is sodium Berloret, a major component of the missile steel fuel.
A spokesman for the Ministry of Defense, Reda Taleei Nick, later told television that “there were no imported or exporting military fuel or for military use on the site.”
Russia has sent experts to help put out fires. On Monday, the authorities announced a national mourning day, while it started on Sunday three days of mourning in Hormuzjan, where the port is located.
The explosion took place at a time when Iranian and American delegations in Muscat participated in uncomfortable indirect talks on the Tehran nuclear program, the two sides said that it contributed to progress.
While the Iranian authorities seem to deal with the explosion as an accident, it also comes against the backdrop of a hidden war that has been going on for years with its enemy Israel.
The Washington Post reported that Israel carried out an electronic attack targeting the port of Rajai in 2020.
