The CEO of the Information and Electronic Government Authority, Mr. Mohamed Ali, the leader of the leadership and the progress of the Gulf Cooperation Council states in the indicators of digital transformation in the United Nations report of e -government 2024, appreciating the continuous efforts of the Gulf states and the joint efforts of the ministerial, executive and technical committees concerned with e -government, in promoting digital transformation and quality of government services in the Gulf states in the interest of their citizens and residents, along with joint efforts in Exchanging experiences and continuous cooperation in developing digital transformation indicators in coordination with the United Nations, and through the holding of international workshops.
The leader called for the importance of joint Gulf work in order to activate the Gulf Digital twinning program, which would contribute to transferring the successful Gulf experience as a unified system in the field of digital transformation regionally and globally with the aim of exchanging experiences and building capacity, reviewing the launch model of the Kingdom of Bahrain for the experimental digital twinning program in December last year.
This came during the participation of the CEO of the Information and E -Government Authority in the dialogue session “Digital Governments in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries” within the work of the e -government workshop in the Middle East and North Africa region 2025, held in the capital, Doha, Qatar during the period from 23 to 24 April, in cooperation with the United Nations Economic and Social Affairs Department and the participation of a group of senior leaders, officials and specialists in the field of digital government and digital transformation.
During the dialogue session, the leader reviewed the most prominent digital initiatives and projects in the Kingdom of Bahrain that contributed to the development of the Kingdom’s general index in the United Nations report of e -government, and its progress in all major and branch indicators, which strengthened its position within the global lead countries by assuming the 18th place globally, stressing the importance of the national efforts that contributed to this achievement from all sides, initiatives and digital projects that were launched, and from The most prominent of which is the unified “my government” application, the developed electronic key, and the initiatives to adopt artificial intelligence technologies in government services, as well as the plan to integrate government smart devices applications and advanced government systems.
The leader also reviewed the experience of the Kingdom of Bahrain in adopting cloud computing in the government sector, explaining the importance of this technology, which helped accelerate the pace of digital transformation and provide government services, and build a solid and reliable cloud infrastructure, as it had an impact on the development of policies and legislation, and the launch of intensive training programs to qualify government cadres to use cloud computing technologies.
On the future of Gulf digital governments, the CEO of the Information Authority and e -government stressed the importance of benefiting from unified entry systems and electronic verification from the advanced identity of the Gulf states, building on them and benefiting from them in the operations of linking systems at the Gulf level to identify customer identity and expand the scope of services provided to citizens of the GCC states, as well as facilitating verification operations while maintaining the security and privacy of data and controlling their participation, and providing joint services.
The leader also stressed during the session the importance of continuing to develop the mechanism of calculating indicators in joint coordination with the United Nations and member states, in proportion to the reality of digital transformation in these countries, noting the importance of developing the HCI index by taking into account the strategies of digital education and national learning plans, and the efforts to support cadres working with international professional certificates in the technical field, which support digital transformation at the national level within all indicators Digital transformation.
CEO Mohamed Al -Qaid concluded his participation in the session by emphasizing the importance of these forums in developing the international digital transformation process, appreciating the efforts of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology in the sisterly State of Qatar and the United Nations Economic and Social Affairs Department in organizing this workshop and its prominent role in supporting various initiatives that contribute to promoting the advancement of digital governments.
On the sidelines of the participation, the CEO of the Information and E -Government Authority, Mr. Mohamed Ali, the leader, met with Mrs. Arbin Korekian, the public administration official at the Digital Government branch, the Public Institutions Division and the Digital Government at the United Nations Economic and Social Affairs Department, where the two sides discussed a number of joint issues, including cooperation with the United Nations in the areas of digital transformation and e -government, and reviewing the experience of the Kingdom of Bahrain for the digital twinning program with The Republic of Tunisia and the Comoros, in addition to discussing ways to expand digital twinning with the participation of a greater number of countries, and the two sides also discussed the possibility of activating and implementing some proposals to develop future United Nations reports, and the two sides stressed at the end of the meeting the importance of holding such meetings in exchanging experiences and developing member states in the United Nations.
