Health urges citizens to reduce sodium in food to maintain their health

The Ministry of Health and Population appealed to citizens that the amount of sodium should be reduced in their daily meals, in order to maintain their general health and prevent chronic diseases.

The Ministry stressed the importance of relying on fresh foods instead of preserved and canned foods, explaining that in the event of using canned foods, it is preferable to rinse them well with water to reduce the percentage of salt in it.

It also stressed the importance of reading the identification card of food values ​​on food products, and choosing low -sodium foods.

The Ministry of Health advised to avoid eating pickles and ready -made meals as possible, because it contains high levels of sodium that may negatively affect health over time.

The Ministry called on citizens to follow healthy food patterns to prevent heart disease and high blood pressure, while continuing to provide health advice and advice through their official platforms.

Earlier, the Ministry of Health and Population announced the reception of 58 million and 466 thousand and 262 visits from women, to receive examination and awareness services, as part of the President’s Sustainable Initiative to support the health of Egyptian women, since its launch in July 2019 until the end of March 2025.

Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, the ministry’s spokesperson, explained that the total number of visits is divided into 22 million, 575 thousand and 78 visits for the first time, 23 million and 316 thousand, 79 periodic visits, 12 million, 575 thousand and 104 exhibitors.

The spokesperson called for the women to reassure their health through the services provided by the sustainable initiative, stressing that the diagnosis and early detection of breast tumors contributes to reducing the burden on the patient and the state through the effective response to the treatment protocols provided by the initiative for free, according to the latest international standards.
