Al -Zayani: “We make an educational environment that enables students to transform their ideas into sustainable realistic solutions that serve society.”
In a new confirmation of its commitment to promoting innovation and seeking to achieve the goals of sustainability within the Bahrain Economic Vision 2030, the Gulf University organized its headquarters in the “innovation and sustainable technological solutions competition”, which brought together a group of specialists, academics and interested in various sectors, and a number of public and private universities and private schools for the secondary stage participated in it and witnessed a high presence of prominent figures from the public sectors The special organization came as part of the strategic approach adopted by the Gulf University to link education outcomes with development needs, and motivating students to provide creative and practical solutions for environmental, societal and economic challenges, in order to enhance the role of the university as a leading institution in adopting the concepts of innovation and sustainable technology. Professor Mona Bint Rashid Al Zayani, Chairman of the Gulf University Board and Chairman of the Council confirmed Its trustees, that this competition represents a true translation of the university’s vision in creating an educational environment that embraces creativity and feeds the spirit of research and innovation among students. She said in the opening speech: “We believe that the future of education must be connected to reality and interacting with the aspirations of society. What we are witnessing today is evidence that our students have the ability to make the difference if they have the appropriate opportunities.” Professor Al -Zayani stressed the university’s commitment to support sustainability programs, noting that the university was organized in the first semester “Sustainability Week” in its first edition, which formed the platform Scientific and awareness to enhance awareness of environmental and development issues. For his part, Professor Muhannad Al -Fares, President of the Gulf University, expressed his pride in the level of participating projects, stressing that the university continues its efforts in enabling students to apply their knowledge in a practical reality that serves society and keeps pace with technological transformations. He said: “This competition is not just a student event, but rather a reflection of a comprehensive university culture based on critical thinking, teamwork, and commitment to the principles of sustainable development.” The event was attended by Professor Muhannad Al -Ani, Vice -Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Gulf University and member of the Board of Trustees, as well as representatives of a number of government agencies and official institutions, most notably: Ministry of Labor, Ministry of Industry and Trade, Ministry of Youth Affairs, Supreme Council for the Environment, Ministry of Information, Ministry of Information Works, the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), “Banft Bahrain” and Nasser Scientific and Technical Center, in addition to scientific societies and research centers. The program included an opening speech by the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Dr. Aseel Al -Ayyash, followed by major lectures by Professor Issa Qambar, expert in renewable and reliability energy systems, Dr. Mohamed Abdullah Al -Mannai, who specializes in innovation and ownership Intellectual. The jury consisting of Dr. Marian Takiki, Engineer Youssef Mohamed, and Engineer Abdullah Mohsen Ahmed also evaluated the participating projects, which varied between smart energy solutions, environmental initiatives, and technological ideas directed to community service. On his part, Professor Issa Qambar expressed his admiration for the level of ideas offered, stressing that: A catalyst for creativity and innovation, and participating projects have shown a conscious understanding of development challenges, and presented technological solutions with realistic dimension that can be built on.
