In a related context, the Wall Street Journal published a report quoting American sources that the White House is considering reducing customs duties on China to levels ranging from 50% and 65%.
The newspaper also pointed out that the American administration is considering the application of a gradual approach, similar to what was proposed by the China Council of Parliament, by imposing 35% fees on goods that do not pose a threat to national security, and raise fees to 100% or more on goods that are considered a strategy.
On the other hand, the futures contracts for American stock indicators incurred remarkable losses during today’s dealings, after China’s statements about the absence of negotiations, which brought to the forefront the market fears of the continued trade tensions between the two countries and their implications for the global economy, and pushing investors towards safe assets.
