General Motors and the Ontario Workers Syndicate announced that it would temporarily stop the production of its electric commercial truck due to the slowdown in sales.

General Motors added that it is making operational and employment adjustments to balance the stock and align production schedules with the current demand at the Kami assembly factory, where Chevrolet Bright trucks are manufactured.
The layoffs will start on April 14, according to the union, with workers in May returning to limited production. Production will stop temporarily until October 2025, and during the stoppage period, General Motors said it is planning to re -equip the factory in preparation for the production of the 2026 Pret Pight trucks.
Upon resuming production in October, the factory will operate with a single pink system, which will lead to the layoff of nearly 500 workers indefinitely, according to the union.
The auto industry company confirmed in a statement that it is still committed to the future of Bright Drop and the Kami factory, and will support employees during the transitional period. This amendment is directly linked to the market demand and reservoir balance, and the production of Bright Drop and the assembly of electric car batteries will remain in Kami.
